OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1927, H.S. Allen and a small group of Southern Alberta independent retailers pooled their resources to form a buying group called Associated Grocers. Operating out of 2000 square foot warehouse in downtown Calgary the company grew to 90 retailers in the first five years. By 1953 a growing Associated Grocers began to provide a variety of Marketing, Advertising and Support Services. In 1982 Associated Grocers moved to the present warehouse located in the Foothills Industrial Park in South East Calgary.
Associated Grocers was purchased in 1989 by The Jim Pattison Group of Companies and and in 2000, became part of Buy-Low Foods™ and today a Division of the Pattison Food Group and the leading wholesale grocery supplier in Western Canada to over 650 Independent Grocers.
Today, Associated Grocers is the leading wholesale grocery supplier in Western Canada servicing independent retailers from our distribution centres in Calgary and Surrey, as well as our produce facility in Langley. We are the home of the Independent Retailer in Western Canada and the best choice for a full service wholesale partner.
